Cataract Surgery Recovery: What to Expect After Your Procedure
A simple timeline and practical tips so MiVision patients in Saginaw, Midland, and Bay City can heal comfortably and see clearly—fast.
The First 24 Hours
Expect mild scratchiness, tearing, and light sensitivity. Vision may be foggy at first and usually improves within a day or two.
- Use your prescribed drops exactly as directed
- Avoid bending, lifting, or rubbing your eye
- Wear your eye shield while sleeping
Days 2–7: Vision Begins to Clear
As swelling calms, your vision sharpens. Colors often look brighter; glare typically improves.
Continue antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drops. Avoid heavy exercise, dusty environments, and swimming. Wear sunglasses outdoors.
Follow-Up Visits & Timeline
We’ll see you the day after surgery and again about 1–2 weeks later. Most patients reach their best vision within 2–4 weeks.
If you notice severe pain, new floaters or flashes, or increasing redness, contact us immediately.
