What is a Cataract?
Cataracts develop when the natural lens inside the eye becomes cloudy. As a result, your vision may appear blurred, dim, or yellowed. Although cataracts are common with age, they can interfere with everyday activities like reading, driving, and enjoying hobbies.
Do I Need Cataract Surgery?
Not all cataracts require immediate treatment. However, surgery becomes necessary when vision loss starts to limit daily life. For example, you may notice:
- Blurry or cloudy vision
- Glare and halos while driving at night
- Faded or yellowed colors
- Needing brighter light to read
- Trouble with hobbies, work, or driving
If you experience these symptoms, it may be time to schedule a cataract evaluation.

How is Cataract Surgery Performed?
Cataract surgery is safe, fast, and effective.
First, Dr. Mihlstin creates a tiny incision in the eye. Then, she removes the cloudy lens. Finally, she replaces it with a clear IOL that restores your vision.
The entire procedure usually takes 10–15 minutes per eye. Most patients go home the same day and notice improvement within 24–48 hours.
